Hi folks, it seems so strange to be communicating with you all after 50 years. But, at the same time, it's really nice to be doing so. Since it has been so long, I'll give you a quick recap of what I've been up to. After graduation, I went immediately to LSU, then UNO, then Loyola law school. Yes, a bit of a professional student for a lot of years (boy do I miss those days LOL!), ending up with two undergrad degrees and a couple of years of law school. During that time, I left Baton Rouge and lived in New Orleans for 9 years, Los Angeles and Pasadena, CA for 31years, and Denver for 3 years. I built a career as a pension consultant with a major consulting firm and then became the Director of Document & Consulting Services for Transamerica Retirement Solutions. In 2021, my spouse Randy and I retired and we moved to Baton Rouge to be near my sisters and my godchildren. It's great to be home after all these years but, up until a month ago, we've been housebound due to the pandemic so we haven't really had a chance to acclimate back into BR culture - but we're getting there. I am really looking forward to recoonecting with you all and to find out what you've been up to since graduation! See you on August 7.

I met my wonderful wife, Connie Braud, and that led to our marriage in 1995.  We have enjoyed each other and family times with our families.  I am a Shriner Clown since 1990; have traveled to many states for clown competitions and conferences; met lots of great people in this country of ours. I have had the priverledge of visiting many hospitals  [in thr Shriner Burn and Orthopedic centers] and local hospitals [BR and N.O.] to try to bring some joy to the children [I try not to use the word 'kids'.... they are not goats]. I have been truly blessed by God and His abundant grace; I am a civil engineer who designed a couple Frito-Lay plants; inner dome to Disneyworld's Space Mountain; single metal buildings to multi-story office buildings and industrial structures. Foundations of all kinds; and retired after 15.4 years with Louisiana's Dept of Environmental Quality. I have talked to junior and senior high schools about engineering, judged Science fairs, and guest lectured in engineering graduate schools at 4 universities, as well as the La. Solid Waste Conference. I almost became a jesuit priest [until I discovered girls in 1964]; Have 2 sons by a previous marriage; and now am blessed by Connie's son and family.  I was able to perform their marriage. Being retired has only allowed me more time to be with the Indian Friends of Connie; y'all are great people. I like playing golf [and building my own clubs]; and still do some engineering now and then.  Thanks to all the Istrouma folks for letting me be a part of your fun.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone.  It truly is hard to believe 40 years, and I have been out of the loop that long as well.  I moved to Mississippi when I got married to my redneck, then live in New Roads for 12 years and now back in Mississippi for the last 18.  My kids will never live in PoDunk USA ever.  Natalie just moved to Baton Rouge and refuses to let me live with her and my granddogs.  She just moved back from Birmingham, AL.  and now works at BRCC as the Writiing Center Specialist.  My son Trent is in Hattiesburg and works for Regions Bank while studying for his CFA.  I have one chlld at home who both my kids are so jealous of and his name is OTIS.  He is spoiled worse than both kids ever were and could care less if they ever come back home.
I will see you all Saturday.

I have many fond memories of my years teaching Geometry and Physics at Istrouma High School.  Over the years I kept up with many of the wonderful faculty members I worked with there.  I spent the last 25 years teaching Physics at Baton Rouge Magnet High School and heard more than once, "You taught my Mom/Dad!"  It's nice to see the names and stories here.  Sorry I can't attend the reunion, but sent my greetings and best wishes to everyone!

Hello to everyone, especially to our hardworking committee.  I just wanted to say a special hello to Belle and to thank her for the wonderful memories we shared while coaching the infamous volleyball team at St. Jude.  I've coached volleyball, soccer, officiated high school volleyball and even played soccer (over 30 league).  I will always remember the Sacred Heart days with Kaye, Bridget, Kathy Richard, Carolyn Bagala and Jan Couvillion (remember the fiasco with Donna).  To my best friends in Belfair, Fay Fugler, whom I've known for 55 years, and to Carolyn; whom I've kept in contact with all these years.  But, most of all, to my friends from Istrouma that I've run into in past years - thank you for your continuing friendship.  Can't wait to see everyone.

Can hardly believe 40 years have elapsed since graduation.  Considering I have never attended any functions post graduation I am really looking forward to these events.  It will be a joy to visit with old highschool friends and see how many I remember.

As Larry, Pam and Belle mentioned, it has been a lot of fun meeting every other week with those three and Kim, Connie, Tommy and Pat at the Hawks Nest for the class reunion meetings.  I almost forgot just how good their old specialty "shrimp remoulade" actually was.  Not that we embibed, but they also have cold beverages.

OK, 40 years to try and catch up, this could take up allot of space- l still enjoy talking. Guess I'll find out the space liimit ...
First, thank you Larry, Connie, Kim, Ricky, Tommy, Pam, and Belle for putting this together for all of us.
Basic:  Married 30 years, inherited 2 step children, now have 4 grandchildren.
Pet: 26 year old  African Grey parrot
Careers : Telephony (13 yrs), Insurance (12 yrs) pre-retirement 5 years and now banking (3 yrs)  Retirement goal, before the 60th reunion!
Lived in Reston, VA 25 years, but made frequent visits home  to make sure my  compassion for crayfish, LSU and Saints were not influenced.
Current Goal:  Helping Scooter (my brother, IHS grad of 1970) wife, my sister in law, Charlene Charlet Day get elected for EBR Family Court Judge.  Election is April 2nd, early voting March 19-26th.  Please help pass the word and consider voting for one of  our family.  More info. on web site:
Please read about her qualifications and pass the word around.  Each vote will count.  We still have signs ready to display, if anyone gives permission for home or business, just see web site. or contact me.  Probably would see Scooter, my Mom or Dad install the signs.
Speaking of Family, I wanted to share my family's  Istrouma Indian heritage:   My immediate family has 534 total reunion years. beginning with
my Aunt Maud Day: 1942     Aunt Velma Day Fischer: 1943    Dad, Archie Day: 1945      Mom, Jeri Walsworth Day: 1946      Aunt Bell Day: 1945      Aunt Marilyn Walsworth: 1949     Uncle Sonny Walsworth: 1952      brother Scooter Day: 1970   and me, Debbie Day: 1971
Can anyone beat that?
I also would like to share a story of one of our deceased classmates:  Ronnie Glover,  He lived directly across street from me on Beechwood.  He actually saved my neck as well as from getting scalped.   I was washing clothes - utility room was detached building from house,  Ronnie was outside mowing his yard, I was waiting for washer spin cycle to finish- so I just was counting the spins with the lid OPEN on the machine (time when there was not safety for auto stop  when door open on spin).  Somehow, my hair got caught in the spin and it pulled me further and further down- thank goodness I had very long hair then. I was screaming very loud  as Ronnie heard me over his lawn mower- he came running and was able to unplug the machine. Needless to say, I had major headache, neck ache and less hair.  But Ronnie was alwyas my hero after that day.
Also, another dear dear friend will not be attending our reuion this year - Annell Grimmett, she also lived across the street from us.  Those beautiful eyes and smile of hers  will be missed,  I've never met another person named Annell in my life-  must be a reason, she was an original.
I am really looking forward to reconnecting with everyone,  reading this guestbook web site will be  a weekly activity for me now.
Till then:
